Cancure (Pty) Ltd, trading as Cancure, is a hundred per cent black-owned business established in 2016 and registered as a private company in 2023.
Mr Sheobalak started the enterprise after he had spent several years researching the medical benefits of Hemp. The research conducted resulted in a realization that the market for hemp products was huge in South Africa.
Mr Sheobalak then decided to exploit this market potential by establishing Cancure. He started indoor planting of Hemp on a small scale (ca. two square metres under cover), operating from his house outside the building/garage. The alcohol extraction method used was a manual technique, utilizing basic home tools and materials.
From these humble beginnings, the entrepreneur could produce oils on a smaller scale and started selling to customers in KwaZulu-Natal.
